Female Pilots' liaison

A few months ago, an observant member of the committee asked me 2 questions.

1. Why aren't there more female pilots out on the hill?
2. What can we do about it?

I explained that it's not easy being a minority group especially when the majority is a group of testosterone-fuelled males with little or no understanding of the female psyche.

Perhaps it would be good to have a support network for female pilots; hence the idea of the Female Pilot's liaison was established. I would act as an empathetic point of contact and co-ordination within the club for new and existing female pilots.

This is not about coaching or women's liberation; I don't usually wear a bra, let alone feel the need to burn one. It's about trying to encourage female pilots to turn up on the hill and fly and of course, share their chocolate with other members.

The hope is that we can create a little bit of "Girl Power" in the club.
