| Folks, it's that time of year again when the Sky Surfing Club needs ALL of your help! WHAT'S IT ABOUT? For newer members (and Reciprocal visitors) to the Club, this is an annual event when Sky Surfers and MVSA (aeromodellers) spend a few hours on Butser Hill knocking the c**p out of some of the scrub. This is a voluntary conservation effort organised by Park management, i.e. "our presence is requested". Put another way, we are repaying some of the support shown by (and earning a few Brownie Points from) the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, (Hampshire County Council). WHAT'S IN IT FOR US? Lots of Brownie Points! This year is significantly different, though. The scrub clearance will also BENEFIT OUR FLYING!!! Tim Speller, (Park Manager) has agreed we can cut & burn some of the scrub on the south-facing Mushroom Slope, overlooking the A3. WHO WILL BE THERE? All are welcome. Bring friends, relatives, other halves, etc. You'll need some sturdy gloves and boots. Depending on the weather you may need clothing to deal with the cold and wet. You will need to bring your own cutting implements, i.e. long-handled loppers, bow saws, pruning saws, axes, etc. Power tools are NOT permitted. WHEN & WHERE? Meet in the top car park on Butser Hill at 10am. The duty ranger will give us a briefing, then it's off to the designated spot on the Mushroom Slope for a few hours. We usually pack up around 2pm, but do come along even if you can only spare an hour during the day. Get in touch with me if you have any questions - look forward to seeing you there on Sunday 28th!
